The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) recently created the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (EVP & COO). Monty Burgess, who was formerly senior vice president & COO, assumed this role July 1. In this capacity, Burgess has oversight responsibility for Operations and Maintenance, Public Safety, Community Affairs and Customer Service, Finance, Purchasing, Treasury, Accounting, Information Technology, MNAA Properties Corporation, Business Development, Properties, Planning, Design and Construction. Additionally, Burgess also has oversight responsibility for the Enterprise Risk Management and Sustainability Management functions, as well as Continuous Improvement.
“This new position is a result of our continuing effort to make this organization more effective and to maximize the use of our senior leadership strengths,” said Raul Regalado, president and CEO of the MNAA. “Monty’s leadership and experience play a vital role in delivering the Nashville Airports Experience (NAE) to our passengers and partners.”
In 2002, Burgess joined the MNAA staff from St. Petersburg, Fla., where he served as the airport director. Previously, Burgess served as the airport executive director of the Montgomery Airport Authority and as the director of Aviation at the Mobile Airport Authority. His airport experience also includes the Birmingham Municipal Airport, the Albuquerque International Airport and the Dothan-Houston County Airport Authority.
Burgess has more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry following six years of service in the U.S. Army. He holds a master’s of business administration degree from Troy State University and a bachelor’s degree in science from Auburn University. Burgess is an Accredited Airport Executive – a professional accreditation from the American Association of Airport Executives.
