Following a partnership with TAP, global IT consultancy and technology provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has inaugurated a new Aviation Digital Centre in Alfragide, near Lisbon, Portugal. TAP selected TCS as a strategic partner in order to accelerate its digitalisation and technological innovation, following an international tender process.

TAP is working with TCS to rationalise and modernise their system’s architecture, enriching the customer experience and improving operational performance. This is all to better serve the airline customers.

TCS’ Aviation Digital Center will be home to consultants, solution architects and technology experts, all of whom make innovative uses of digital technologies, such as cloud, data analysis and automation, supporting European companies across the entire aviation value chain.

The centre is part of the TCS European Delivery Network and will also be used as a nearshore facility to serve other global TCS customers in the transportation sector, which is expected to result in more technology jobs in Portugal.

In fact, the new TCS center is taking advantage of the thriving talent pool in Portugal to serve clients across Europe and is already staffed with 75 highly qualified professionals.

Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP, said: “TAP is continuing its ambitious transformation plan and TCS was selected as a partner based on its deep experience in the airline industry, proven track record of carrying out digital transformations and technological leadership. We are very pleased to confirm that this partnership established with TAP attracted this TCS investment to Portugal, which creates a centre of technological expertise that is unparalleled in our country and even in Europe.”

“The TCS Aviation Digital Center sets itself apart by offering deep global industry expertise and technology capabilities unique to the needs of airlines and transportation companies right here in Europe. It is a demonstration of our continuing commitment to the European market, and we are eager to expand our partnerships with European airlines and transportation companies embarking on enterprise transformation journeys to hone their competitive edge and build more resilient and sustainable businesses,” said Krishnan Ramanujam, President, Consumer Business Group, TCS.
