The partners will redevelop both terminals with modern airport amenities, including additional passenger boarding and bridges.
Avports LLC has announced its participation as a member of VIports Partners, an Aecon-led consortium, to redevelop the Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas and the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in St. Croix.
Selected by the U.S. Virgin Island Port Authority (VIPA) in response to its Airports P3 Request for Proposal, VIPorts Partners was unanimously recommended. The partners will redevelop both terminals with modern airport amenities, including additional passenger boarding and bridges.
“We are pleased to bring value and our expertise in managing airport operations to these two airports,” says Jorge Roberts, CEO of Avports.
“The U.S. Virgin Islands are known for their pristine beaches, turquoise waters, natural diversity, and unique culture and history. Enhancing these airports will open new doors and travel opportunities.”
VIports members include Aecon Group Inc., Terminal Developer; Aecon/Tikehau Star Infra, Equity Providers; Avports, Airport Operator; Corgan Associates, Inc., Terminal Architects, Aecon/Joint Venter of Consigli Construction and J. Benton Construction, Contractors and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP/Dudley Rich LLP, Legal.
Steven Nackan, Executive Vice President, and President of Aecon Concessions, stated that this is a historic project for the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI), delivering critical infrastructure while prioritising local economic, social, and community benefits.
