Greater Orlando Airport Authority to enhance main terminals areas

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Board approved two measures that will keep Orlando International Airport evolving our signature look.

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) Board approved two measures that will keep Orlando International Airport (MCO) evolving their signature look and feel into the next decade. Following the “People” pillar of the 2023 Strategic Plan, the Aviation Authority will issue a Request for Statement of Qualifications (RSQ) for the refurbishment of the interiors at Airsides 1 & 3 and the interior refurbishment of Levels 1 & 2 at Terminals A & B.

Key provisions in the Strategic Plan call for advancing the Aviation Authority assets to serve the passengers who utilise facilities, as well as enhancing customer support initiatives. Both of these directives will be addressed by the Board’s approval of the procurement requests.

Major renovation and replacement projects in the Main Terminal were completed in 2018. They included the expansion and modernization of the Level 3 ticket lobbies, expansion of facilities at Airside 4, replacement of the Airsides 1 & 3 Automated People Mover systems, and the addition of the North Cell Phone Lot. The completion of Terminal C came next in 2022.

The Authority’s goal now is to bring the remaining facilities up to an elevated standard. The scope of the RSQs will consist of the design and construction of Landside and Airside interior refurbishment, and will include, but not limited to, all associated systems and regulatory requirements, new flooring, new wall finishes, and new ceilings and lighting improvements.

The value of each project is estimated at $20 million, and the Aviation Authority will establish small and minority-owned business participation goals prior to the release of the Request for Qualifications.
