Sydney Airport has upgraded its in-terminal digital platform to provide an enhanced airport experience for passengers, visitors and staff.

Sydney Airport enhances digital platform for passengers

Sydney Airport has unveiled its new in-terminal digital platform which includes enhanced Wi-Fi and tailored content. The new technology has been developed in partnership with location service provider, Discovery Technology to provide passengers with a high speed Wi-Fi service at Terminal’s 1 and 2 and targeted content via a ‘walled garden’ – including an extensive selection of information such as news; retail, food and dining offers; competitions; and the latest flight details –accessible via mobile devices.

Sydney has become the first to airport integrate Wi-Fi software with SCALA, sophisticated media software that allows brands to deliver relevant advertising, entertainment and travel specific content to travellers such as shopping, food and dining tips across a number of in-terminal digital screens.

We recognise the need to align with strong industry partners like Discovery Technology to ensure we’re delivering the very best digital experience to passengers. Our goal is to provide a premium media platform for both brands and passengers.

“We’re excited about the improvements we’ve made to our in-terminal digital platform and how these will further enhance our passengers’ journey through Sydney Airport.”

In 2014, there were more than 4.8 million sessions on Sydney Airport’s Wi-Fi network, with 90 percent of people entering the airport with a mobile device. The new digital platform has begun its phased digital roll-out allowing the airport’s annual 39 million passengers to access the service.
