In 2013, Operator Aéroports de Paris chose MBD Design to carry out a design study and development of a new transport information prototype. It is hoped conclusion of the trial will lead to dedicated spaces informing arrival passengers of available public transport options including subway, buses and shuttles.
Aéroports de Paris plans to integrate ticketing machines with Transport Information Points
Designers of the wall based Transport Information Points, located in arrivals at Roissy Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, focused on the visibility and readability of facts to travellers. Information has been presented using colour codes, maps, lighting and screens displaying real-time information. The information points have been subject to an extensive ergonomic study in order to provide comprehensive information in a welcoming environment.
Successful conclusion of the study will lead to Transport Information Points introduced to other airport terminals operated by Aéroports de Paris in the Île-de-France region. There are also plans to install transport ticketing machines within the Transport Information Points.
