Next week, there will be visitors from all over the world attending the much-anticipated GSE Expo Europe in Paris, a show that has been uniquely created by leading manufacturers at IAEMA in partnership with GHI for the benefit of the GSE community.

GSE Expo Europe is aptly situated at Paris Le Bourget Exhibition Centre, a site closely connected with aviation history, just metres away from where a 25-year-old Charles Lindberg shocked the world in 1927 after flying solo non-stop across the Atlantic from New York to Paris. We hope, in a similar way, the GSE Expo Europe on 13-15 September will be just as inspiring as industry players showcase the latest innovations shaping the ramp of the future.

“The event will provide a perfect opportunity to work with the very best GSE manufacturers and suppliers in the world,” said Max Gosney, GHI Conference Chairman.

“In the same way, the world marvelled at the feat of Charles Lindberg all those years ago we hope the Expo will capture that same level of expectation and vision about what the industry can achieve in

the coming years.”

The Expo will be divided into outdoor and indoor areas, covering a net exhibition space of around 30,000 square metres. As visitors walk through the doors, the 8,000 square-metre indoor arena will comprise of GSE manufacturers and suppliers like JBT, Mulag and Hitzinger Electric Power and will incorporate a special Innovation Zone showing groundbreaking technologies, and where roundtable discussions will be held to discuss their impact on the ramp. This will adjoin the 22,000 square-metre outdoor exhibitor space with leading GSE industry players: Weihai Guangtai, TLD, Vestergaard and Textron GSE, Power Stow, Mallaghan and Trepel to name a few, plus a specially dedicated equipment Demo Zone. At the time of writing, more than 100 exhibitors from the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa have secured their stand so far.

One of the exhibitors, GSE specialist Aviaco GSE is looking forward to networking with customers and showcasing their electric converted tractor.

CEO Danny Vranckx said: “Our expectations for the GSE Expo Europe are very clear, we want to get electrification in the picture and, of course, attract more potential buyers and rental customers for the future.”

Main trends

For the inaugural event this year, the guiding Expo themes will include advanced safety innovations, autonomous vehicles and sustainable GSE (hydrogen/hybrid/ electric/new battery tech).

Leading global GSE rental solutions provider TCR will be bringing its converted electrical assets to Le Bourget and is eager to share its knowledge and engage with customers about the lessons learned in regard to fleet electrification.

“How to be sustainable in an economically sustainable manner,” said Kristof Philips, COO of TCR. “Our role is to help our clients find the best sustainable solutions catered to their needs. A 360° approach taking into account all possible challenges and getting all stakeholders involved is the only way to guarantee a successful sustainable future.”

The Expo will be highly relevant to people working in the industry such as GSE Fleet Managers/Directors; Airport Managers/Operations Managers; Purchasing Directors; Maintenance Managers as well as GSE Engineers; Safety Managers and all Senior Managers/Directors with an active interest in GSE/airport equipment. Senior representatives from ground support service providers such as Menzies and Swissport have confirmed their attendance and are looking forward to seeing the latest innovations exhibited by GSE manufacturers.

“GHI’s GSE Expo will be a valuable opportunity for sharing Menzies’ progress and insights on the move to electric GSE, as well as a great opportunity to connect with people in the industry to discuss safety best practice, new ground services technologies and how we can all work together to advance sustainability,” said Stephen Gallagher, Senior Vice President GSE, Menzies.

A Swissport company spokesman said: “We are very much looking forward to attending GSE Expo. It gives us an opportunity to see GSE manufacturers showcase their innovation and latest product range. We are particularly interested in advances on more environmentally friendly GSE through alternative energy applications, together with products that improve the safety and e_ ciency of our

global ramp operations.”
