Chopin Airport handled over 1.07 million passengers in September 2014, breaking the one million monthly barrier for the fourth time in a row despite a 4% drop on September 2013.

September was the fourth consecutive month when Chopin Airport handled over one million passengers. This has only happened once before in the history of the airport – in 2013, which also saw the one million passenger mark broken each month in the period from June to September.

September was the fourth consecutive month when Chopin Airport handled over one million passengers.

This year’s achievement is all the more significant considering that low-fare airline Ryanair, which generated more than 10% of passenger traffic in the corresponding period last year, no longer flies from Warsaw. This means that other airlines operating in Warsaw have significantly improved their performance.

In total, Chopin Airport has handled nearly 8.2 million passengers since the beginning of the year, including over 7.25 million on international flights (down 5.1%) and 924,500 domestically (up 9.2%).

The overall number of aircraft movements fell by 4.2% in September and totalled 12,900.
