The dog days of summer 2014 were not so rough at Orlando International Airport (MCO) in July. Both domestic and international traffic registered healthy gains for the month, up a combined 4.2 percent with more than 3 million passengers moving through during the peak summer travel period.

“The Orlando region continues to prove itself as a desirable destination for travelers from around the world,” says Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “July marks the third straight month of double-digit international growth which translates to goo news for the local economy.”

Contributing to the strong international numbers, Aero Mexico increased its schedule by seven flights per week to Mexico City and Thomas Cook and Virgin Atlantic each increased service by three flights per week to London Gatwick and Manchester England.

The July activity reported from Orlando Executive Airport was also positive, up over 22 percent for the month with nearly 10 thousand operations.

July Statistical Data:

  • International traffic increased 14.17 percent over July 2013 with 414,376 travelers
  • Domestic traffic was up 2.88 percent with 2,798,699 passengers moving through MCO
  • Overall traffic increased 4.21 percent in July with 3,213,075 total travelers at Orlando International Airport
  • Calendar year-to-date overall traffic is up 1.31 percent with 21,392,493 passengers
