Hamad International Airport (DOH) – managed by MATAR, the Qatar Company for Airports Management and Operation – has achieved the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification following an extensive assessment of the airport’s information security management system by Bureau Veritas in October 2020.
ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is a globally recognised certification for information security management systems. Achieving this certification affirms Hamad Airport’s ongoing commitment to implement industry best practice to manage the airport’s information security and to continuously enhance its information security management system.
While striving to provide a seamless and secure experience for DOH’s customers, the airport has developed and implemented an effective information security management system that complies with one of the most stringent international standards and enables further resilience against cyber risks.
During the official handover ceremony at Hamad Airport, the ISO certificate was presented to Suhail Kamil Kadri, Senior Vice President (SVP) of Technology and Innovation at DOH, by Hossam Refaey, Country Chief Executive of Bureau Veritas.
Suhail Kamil Kadri, SVP of Technology and Innovation at Hamad Airport, said: ”We are proud to achieve the esteemed ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification from Bureau Veritas, as it reflects the efforts that our teams have put in to ensure that our cyber security controls and procedures are reliable and also meet industry standard and best practice. With technology at the core of our airport strategy, it is imperative that we continue to assess, improve and adapt our information security management systems”.
Country Chief Executive of Bureau Veritas, Hossam Refaey, said: “We would like to congratulate the entire team of DOH for their collective efforts that has resulted in being certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2013 international standard. This accomplishment is a testimony of DOH’s commitment towards information security management systems. We are pleased to welcome DOH as an integral part of Bureau Veritas family of over 100,000 certified clients worldwide. This global recognition by Bureau Veritas Certification will certainly instil confidence in DOH’s stakeholders. We take great pride in this association with MATAR and look forward to taking this partnership forward and achieving many more challenging objectives in its journey towards benchmarking best international practices in management systems.”
