Air Malta, the national airline which has the motto “Flying the Pride of Malta”, has announced good news for travelers in Wales and the South West by adding an extra four departures as a prelude to their summer 2014 charter season.
The additional flights on this popular route will commence on Tuesday 8th April 2014, four weeks earlier than originally planned, to satisfy expected public demand for travel to the sunshine island in the Mediterranean over the Spring/ Easter period. The direct flights from Cardiff Airport to Malta are programmed to depart every Tuesday through to 21st October 2014.
Air Malta confirmed that there is a noticeable increase in demand for off-peak holidays, with the climate during the early-spring season providing perfect conditions for discovering the many interesting attractions and experiencing the culture of the Maltese islands. With these added departures, along with the prospect of reduced traveling time and the lower costs associated with flying direct from an airport closer to home, Malta is attracting lots of new visitors as well as existing fans of the island who return year after year.
In welcoming the news, Jon Horne, Cardiff Airport’s Chief Executive, commented: “it’s great that Air Malta is expanding its operation from Cardiff, helping to continue the strong historic links that exist between the island and Wales. Air Malta is one of six national airlines with a presence at Cardiff and, with passenger numbers last month showing a 17% year on year increase, this all adds to the growth of the Airport.”
Air Malta offers a free allowance of 20kg for checked-in baggage and also a generous 10kg as hand-luggage per person on all its flights. Flights are available to book via various tour operators and travel agents, but also from the airline’s portal www.airmalta.com
