Bordeaux Airport hits an all-time record with almost half a million passengers in July…
Bordeaux Airport hits an all-time record with almost half a million passengers in July. Overall year-to-date traffic stands at 2,675,769 passengers, showing 4.5% growth. New flights for 2013, the attraction of South-West France as a tourist destination and a dynamic seasonal economy all contributed to these results.
Scheduled domestic traffic was up 7.2% to 253,570 passengers.
Corsica recorded good results, totalling over 11,180 passengers, an increase of 70% on July 2012 thanks to the introduction of new flights to Ajaccio, Bastia and Figari.
Lille (HOP!, Volotea and easyJet), Nice (HOP! and easyJet) and Strasbourg (HOP! and Volotea) have been the fastest-growing destinations since the spring, while Paris also continues to perform well, up 5.7% in July.
With growth of 5.7% to 198,005 passengers, international scheduled flights are doing well. The easyJet flights to Basel and Geneva posted good results, up 32.8% and 35.7% respectively. In 2013, the latter has become the airport’s N°2 international destination, after London (33,700 passengers in July, +0.9%) and before Amsterdam and the access to AF-KLM hub (16,000 passengers in July, +10,6%).
Low-cost traffic continues to progress, with growth of 16.1% to a total of 184,009 passengers.
The only bad news was the decline in passenger numbers to North Africa, driven in particular by reductions in charter flight capacities.
