Chopin Airport recorded its best year to date in 2012, with over 45,000 tonnes of cargo handled, a 3.9% growth on 2011.
The Warsaw airport handled a total of 45,400 tonnes of freight in the twelve months of 2012, including 44,700 tonnes internationally and 700 tonnes domestically, with imports (26,800 t) exceeding exports (18,600 t). The airport also handled 17,100 tonnes of mail.
The most popular cargo destinations included: Leipzig (7,000 t), Cologne (6,500 t), Chicago (3,300 t), New York/Newark (3,000 t) and Shanghai (2,600 t). The biggest cargo carriers were: LOT Polish Airlines (15,200 t), UPS Airlines (10,600 t), European Air Transport (7,000 t), Sprint Air (2,000 t) and Air Contractors (1,900 t).
