Tyronia Smith

Tyronia (“Ty”) M. Smith, Esq. is the Assistant General Manager of Commercial Revenue at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), the world’s busiest airport. 

Ty’s professional responsibilities include oversight of all non-aeronautical revenue generating activities, including concessions (food, beverage, retail, and services), ground transportation, parking, and rental car operations.  ATL’s Commercial Revenue Division typically exceeds $1.4 Billion in annual gross revenue.

She is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and a Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University, where she became the first African American woman to win the Stanley Moot Court Competition.  Over the course of her career, Ty gained significant legal experience in complex commercial contract disputes, reorganizing distressed companies, corporate financing, and creditor’s rights.  After 17 years in private practice, she joined the City of Atlanta Department of Law where she helped to establish the Municipal Governance Team, led the Finance Practice Group, and served as a senior counsel to ATL.

In addition to developing revenue generating initiatives, Ty also serves on ATL’s senior leadership team, organizes professional development trainings, and chairs numerous groups within ATL.  She also remains very active in the legal profession and serves on the executive boards for the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, Georgia Chapter of Women in Public Finance, and the State Bar of Georgia Client Security Fund.

Ty is just as dedicated to serving the community in general.  She has advised numerous community organizations, served on governance teams for several schools, and been actively involved as a teacher and youth mentor at a local church.

As a result of her hard work and dedication, Ty has received several awards during her career, including: GAWL President’s Award (2024); Woman of Impact from City of Atlanta (2024); City of Atlanta Coins of Excellence (2021-2022); Georgia SuperLawyer (2020-2022); Georgia Rising Star (2019); National Black Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 (2016) and Top 100 Trial Lawyers (2015); ABA Rosner & Rosner Young Lawyers Professionalism Award (2013; first GA lawyer); GA YLD 7th Annual Ethics & Professionalism Award (2011); ABA YLD Star of the Quarter (2011); GA YLD Public Service Award (2010); and GA YLD Leadership Academy graduate (2007).
