During its webinar on the Safe Airport ecosystem Motorola talked through the different situations airports would encounter and how the integrated technology would detect, analyse, communicate and respond in those situations.
On 18 February 2021, the Motorola Solutions webinar explored how its Safe Airport integrated technology ecosystem was built to reveal the insights which drive meaningful operational improvements while ensuring an environment of safety, through four pillars: detect, analyse, communicate and respond.
We were given the opportunity to see some use cases for the technology, such as:
Elevated temperature detection
Elevated temperature detected
A thermal camera at an airport security checkpoint detects a passenger exhibiting indications of elevated body temperature and alerts the security operations centre.
Analyse
Temperature alert verified
The security operations centre acknowledges the alert and identifies the passenger exhibiting indications of elevated body temperature.
Communicate
Resources dispatched
Agents at the security checkpoint are notified of the passenger and a medical professional is dispatched to the checkpoint.
Respond
Situation resolved
The passenger is discreetly isolated and a medical screening is conducted. An incident is logged with pre-populated fields and relevant data.
Sterile and secure areas breach
Target individual identified
A report of a breach is communicated to airport operations at a security checkpoint.
Analyse
Appearance tracked through airport
Using an appearance-based search, the individual is automatically tracked across all airport cameras in seconds.
Communicate
Notification communicated
Nearby security teams are mobilised and real-time location and image information is shared from airport operations.
Respond
Incident managed and supported
Security intercept individual for proper screening and the incident is logged with associated data.
Airfield breach
Detect
Large areas monitored with less
HD wide-lens cameras allow airports to monitor more with less, and a camera recognises an individual scaling fence to the airfield and alerts security teams.
Analyse
Appearance tracked
Situational awareness maintained as the intruder’s appearance is automatically tracked across multiple cameras on the airfield.
Communicate
Resources dispatched
The hiding place of the intruder is determined and shared across security teams to apprehend intruder.
Respond
First response dispatched
Local police directly informed with video for immediate response and the incident is logged with pre-populated fields and relevant data.
