The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Foundation recently surpassed the $3 million mark in total scholarships awarded to date, underscoring its role as one of the aviation industry’s largest and most successful supporters of higher-education assistance.
Since 1989, the AAAE Foundation has awarded 1,952 scholarships totaling just over $3.057 million. An estimated $150,000 in additional scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year are currently under review and will be awarded this summer to some 100 students. By the end of 2012, the AAAE Foundation will have awarded more than $3.2 million to well more than 2,000 deserving students.
“As the Chairman of the AAAE Foundation and a long-time financial supporter, I am incredibly proud of the role AAAE has played in furthering the educational opportunities of thousands of deserving students over the past two decades,” AAAE Foundation Chairman Oris Dunham, Managing Director of the Dunham Group, LLC, said today. “To have reached and surpassed the $3 million mark is a remarkable accomplishment and serves as a testament to the commitment that airport executives and Foundation supporters have to helping future generations of leaders achieve their educational goals.”
AAAE, through the AAAE Foundation, offers four types of scholarships to full-time undergraduate or graduate students attending accredited colleges or universities. Eligible students include accredited airport executive members of AAAE and their spouses or children; students sponsored by accredited airport executive members of AAAE; students enrolled in aviation programs with a junior class standing or higher and a minimum GPA of 3.0; and Native American college or university students enrolled in an aviation program with a junior class standing or higher and a minimum GPA of 3.0.
