To diversify its business offerings, Munich Airport has developed LabCampus, a subsidiary of the airport which will provide a cross-industry innovation centre. Managing Director of LabCampus, Dr Marc Wagener, reveals how the new venture will benefit the champions of the innovation sector.
LabCampus's smart city approach will provide urban infrastructure with a modern working environment
Looking at how innovation works, you can see a clear shift over the past 20 to 30 years. Thirty years ago, innovation was completely goal driven. Today, the traditional approach of developing innovation in central corporate research units is increasingly reaching its limits. Innovation processes today are much more decentralised – across industries, across companies of different sizes, and including start-ups and research institutes.
