VEGA – Vertical Gateway launches with new Board of Directors

The inaugural Board of Directors of VEGA – Vertical Gateway, a newly formed company dedicated to advancing Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in Italy, has been convened. VEGA will initially focus on initiatives in Milan and the Lombardy region.

The company’s shareholders include SEA Milan Airports, which operates Milan’s airports, Skyports, known for its expertise in vertiport infrastructure, and 2i Aeroporti, Italy’s premier airport platform controlled by F2i – Italian Infrastructure Funds and Ardian Infrastructure.

The newly appointed Board of Directors comprises Paolomaria Cappello, Chiara Dorigotti, Alessandro Fidato, Damian Kysely, and Laura Pascotto. Alessandro Fidato has been elected as the Chairman, while Paolomaria Cappello will serve as the Chief Executive Officer.

VEGA aims to introduce innovative and sustainable solutions for urban and suburban transportation, focusing on the movement of people and goods using electric and hybrid vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL). A primary area of development will be the infrastructure necessary for AAM, specifically the design, construction, maintenance and management of vertiports – designated zones for eVTOL take-off and landing.

The company’s first project will establish a connection between Milan’s airport system and the city, along with extending services to other areas within Lombardy. Future plans include expanding operations to additional regions across Italy, reflecting VEGA’s commitment to pioneering sustainable transport solutions in urban settings.
