Luigi Battuello, Head of Non-Aviation Business Development at SEA Milan Airports spoke about how the smart security technology implemented at Milan Linate Airport helps process passengers quicker. He discusses consumer behaviours and how modern passengers are generally better informed.
At Passenger Terminal Expo 2023, International Airport Review caught up with Luigi Battuello, Head of Non-Aviation Business Development, SEA Milan Airports.
Luigi spoke about the smart security technology implemented at Milan Linate Airport which is being rolled out to Milan Malpensa and how this will help process passengers quicker, which will ensure the passenger is relaxed and will have more time to browse the Duty Free and F&B offering.
They estimate that 1 minute longer dwell time for passengers has a +3-5% impact on spend per passenger. Luigi went on to discuss trends in consumer behaviour and said that modern consumers are generally better informed and do their research before making purchases and so airports need to ensure that they are optimising their digital retail offerings.
They will be opening a new medical centre landside at Linate and Malpensa Airports for both passengers and airport staff and their families. Luigi thinks that airports will act more like shopping centres and also health centres in the future.
