Incheon International Airport Corporation has announced that the corporation has successfully completed its COVID-19 response consulting programme at Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport.
Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) has successfully completed its COVID-19 response consulting programme at Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport (NIA).
IIAC had an on-line consulting closing ceremony on the 9 November 2021 to celebrate the success of the programme, which has been conducted for the last two weeks. From 27 October to 9 November 2021, IIAC implemented the self-developed COVID-19 consulting programme called ‘Safe Corridor Initiative’ for the benefit of NIA staff.
Throughout the consulting programme, four IIAC experts transferred their knowledge and experiences of COVID-19 airport risk mitigation measures, which have been recognised as global best practices. Incheon International Airport has proved its excellence in the airport disinfection measures by receiving Airport Health Accreditation from Airport Council International (ACI), a first among airports in Asia-Pacific region in July 2020, as well as acquired the accreditation for the second straight year in September 2021.
IIAC conducted the assessment of NIA’s capabilities in the infectious disease control and prevention based on the guidelines from international organisations such as WHO, ICAO, and ACI. The assessment generated the practical recommendations which would contribute to improving the capabilities of NIA.
Vietnam is one of the fastest growing air transport markets in Southeast Asia and the most favoured destination by Korean people together with China and Japan. For example, about 4.2 million Korean travellers visited Vietnam in 2019. Especially, Korean travel demand to Vietnam is expected to show rapid growth, as Vietnam government plans to re-open its major tourism destinations to fully vaccinated foreign travellers from this December. IIAC is going to make joint effort with Airports
Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), operator of NIA, for the recovery of passenger traffic and development of safe travel environment.
Kim Kyung-Wook, President & CEO of Incheon International Airport Corporation said: “As the air travel demand of Korean people will grow in rapid pace in accordance with the government’s living with COVID-19 policy and the expansion of vaccine, we will reinforce the COVID-19 risk mitigation measures at Incheon Airport (ICN) and expand the consulting programme to the airports in countries with the high tourism demand among Koreans.”
