“We are very pleased and honoured that HKIA has been inducted into the Travel Hall of Fame…”
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has been inducted into the Travel Hall of Fame at the TTG Travel Awards this year. The prestigious accolade was conferred upon HKIA after it clinched the Best Airport award 10 times since 2002.
The Travel Hall of Fame was launched with the objective of establishing a permanent home honouring the industry’s leading organisations. Inductees are entered into the Travel Hall of Fame upon winning the same award at least 10 consecutive times.
Stanley Hui Hon-chung, Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong, said, “We are very pleased and honoured that HKIA has been inducted into the Travel Hall of Fame. This industry recognition underscores HKIA’s ongoing commitment to service excellence, which has been our hallmark amongst global travellers for many years. This high honour comes as we celebrate HKIA’s 15th anniversary this year, making a milestone anniversary even more meaningful.
“Over the years, HKIA has earned 55 best airport awards, and these achievements are due in no small part to the unfailing efforts of the 65,000-strong staff force and some 400 business partners. We remain steadfast in providing a safe, efficient and comfortable experience for all passengers; and continuously upgrading our airport facilities to strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a leading international and regional aviation centre.”
Mr Hui said, “Passenger volume at HKIA is growing steadily, with an annual record of 56.5 million set last year, and new monthly records set over two consecutive months this summer. We will continue to provide travellers with a most delightful airport experience. Later this month, we will launch a ‘Smiles at the Airport’ campaign that aims to deepen HKIA’s passenger-centric culture.”
The “Smiles at the Airport” campaign will include a Best Smiling Customer Service Competition, “Smiles at the Airport” Photo Competition, service excellence seminars and more, involving both passengers and frontline colleagues.
The 24th Annual TTG Travel Awards 2013 was presented in Bangkok yesterday. This year HKIA’s business partners Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair won the Best North Asian Airline award and Best Regional Airline award respectively, while Regal Airport Hotel was named the Best Airport Hotel.
The TTG Travel Awards has been held since 1989. Each year tens of thousands of readers of TTG Travel Trade Publishing’s print and online publications, namely TTG Asia, TTG China, TTG India, TTGmice, TTG-BTmice China, and TTG Asia Luxury, cast their votes.
